Resultant foals born in 2021-22 from mares served in the 2020-21 breeding season (September 1 2020 to August 31 2021) will be eligible to nominate for the Southern Cross Racing Series as a two and three-year-old and be eligible for Southern Cross bonuses provided one (1) of the following clauses is satisfied and the relevant fees are paid in accordance with the Schedule of Fees prescribed by Harness Racing SA Ltd (Clauses 9 & 10):
- 2021-22 SA BRED FOALS
- a) The foal was born and microchipped in SA and either the original foal notification or a copy is lodged with HRSA in the foal’s weanling year.
OR
- b) The foal is by a stallion that was registered and resident at stud in South Australia at the time the foal was conceived and either the original foal notification or a copy is lodged with HRSA in the foal’s weanling year.
- 2021-22 SA OWNED FOALS
The foal was born in a State other than South Australia but is owned outright (100%) by a resident(s)* of South Australia and either the original foal notification or a copy is lodged with HRSA in the foal’s weanling year.
In addition, horses must be domiciled in South Australia and under the care of a trainer licensed with HRSA, for not less than 60 days prior to being eligible to compete in the Southern Cross Racing Series.
*Resident(s) of South Australia is defined as a person whose name appears on the South Australian Electoral Roll. A person may be required to provide proof of eligibility.
- 2023 SA TRAINED YEARLINGS
Any yearling can be made eligible for the Southern Cross Series provided the horse is domiciled in South Australia and under the care of a trainer licensed with HRSA by January 1 2024 and must remain SA domiciled and trained at all times.
- ELIGIBILITY FOR SOUTHERN CROSS RACES IN THE 2022 RACING SEASON
Two and three-year olds which meet the eligibility criteria as advertised by Harness Racing SA Ltd for the relevant foaling year or horses deemed as eligible by Harness Racing SA Ltd provided the relevant fees are paid in accordance with the payment schedule are eligible to nominate for Southern Cross races in the 2022 season.
