SA Harness Racing Member Clubs- 4/6/21
At a watershed meeting, all active country based harness racing clubs met with SA Harness Racing Club, (Globe Derby) to continue the push within the sport for unity and progress.
Following a tenuous relationship between country clubs and Globe Derby over recent years, the forum provided an opportunity for frank discussion on what needs to be done for, and within, the harness racing industry to “right the ship”.
In a momentous result at very this first meeting, country clubs and Globe Derby “reconnected” in a very positive way. Importantly, in a combined and unanimously supported resolution, it was resolved to invoke clause 15.2 of the HRSA Ltd. constitution to call a general meeting of the shareholder member clubs as a collective with the full HRSA board to present the topics raised.
These outcomes cannot be underestimated, as they provide the cohesion necessary to allow harness racing to move forward and grow after a dark period.
Anne Mowday, in her first year as president at Globe Derby, stated “The South Australian Harness Racing Club is looking forward to working alongside our country clubs to drive a positive recovery of our industry.”
SA Country Harness Racing Clubs Association president Philip Wood concurred, commenting “It was an outstanding meeting, with all present working together. I’m looking forward to a great relationship working as “one” for the industry.”
