No stopping 81 year old trainer

Veteran trainer Peter Borrelli at 81 years of age, scored a long price double at Globe Derby on February 19, and fittingly it was Italian Cup night.

Borrelli’s winners were Fine Artist (75/1), driven by David Smith and Grinfaron (25/1), who showed good gate speed for driver Corey Johnson to lead all the way.

It was Fine Artist’s first win since October last year. The seven-year-old was driven perfectly by David Smith, and despite being caught three wide early, Smith pressed forward into the death seat after they had gone roughly 200 metres, and from there he was able to dictate the race and wore down the odds-on favourite, Whistle On By, close to the finish line to score.
