Honest trotter Winsome Ruby has given her trainer Susan Grace a great deal of joy in recent times.
The six-year-old mare was the first trotter Grace had trained and when she won for the first for the Grace stable back in March 2020, Winsome Ruby not only became the first trotter Susan had trained to win but also her husband Stephens first winner as a driver on board a trotter, AND it was her owner Vail Besters first winner for 35 years!
Grace, who recently moved stables, learnt quickly that trotters need to be trained and fed differently to pacers.
“You can’t give them too much hot feed” she said in an interview on a recent 1197 Harness Show.
The well-bred daughter of Bacardi Lindy out of a Sundon mare had, at the time of writing, just notched her fifth win for Grace, and one would think she has more wins where that came from.
