The Australian Drivers Championship, to be held at Globe Derby Park on September 17, will be unique in the fact that it will bring together two sets of siblings for only the second time in the Championship’s history.
Queensland will be represented by Peter McMullen, who won the Drivers’ Championship in its inaugural year in 2014 and joining him in the maroon colours will be his younger sister, Narissa.
This years Championship will be the second time the McMullen’s have competed together; they represented the Sunshine State back in 2019.
The host state, South Australia, will also have another set of siblings rival each other when Wayne and Danielle Hill pull on the Croweater colours. Wayne won the title back in 2016, the last time it was held in South Australia, while Dani finished second to Grant Dixon in 2015, when the event was held at Mowbray racecourse in Launceston Tasmania.
The McMullens and the Hills will be joined by a star-studded line up of drivers on September 17th. Western Australia will be represented by Gary Hall Junior, the current title holder, and he will be joined by young star 21-year-old Emily Suvaljko who drove 177 winners in West Australia in 2021 and at the time of writing has notched up 74 already this season.
Wearing the Big V will be Kate Gath, an ex-South Australian, and another upcoming star, the 22-year-old James Herbertson.
New South Wales have selected two young guns in 19-year-old Grace Panella, the younger sister of Lauren Tritton, who is now based in the United States. Joining Panella is Cameron Hart, another Aussie young gun in rapid ascension. At just 23 years old this driver has five Group 1 winners including Majestic Cruiser in the Blacks A Fake at the end of July.
The Apple Isle has a mix of youth and experience in Connor Crook (26) and veteran driver Rohan Hiller representing Tasmania.
The Australian Drivers Championship at Globe Derby Park Saturday September 17th, a night not to be missed.
