Until Saturday night Wayne Hill had never won a Southern Cross Final but all that changed when he steered home a double in the finals.
The Alyce Finnis trained Ever Hoping gave Hill the first leg of his feature race double when he sprinted home strongly to win the Group 2 Two -year-old Southern Cross Final.
Purchased by Finnis and her husband Jayson at the APG 2020 Sydney sale for $32,500, the gelding has now won 3 races from just 8 starts.
Ever Hoping became the sixth stakes winning two-year-old by Always B Miki in the stallions debut crop.
The $1.30 trotter My Used To Be had little trouble taking out the $15,000 three-year-old Trotters Southern Cross Final. He is bred and raced by Geoff Easom’s Wyndown Stud and trained by Jill Neilson.
The son of French stallion Used To Me, who has now won 9 races from 17 starts, also took out the SA Trotters Derby in November. He will likely now head back to Victoria to do his immediate racing.
