What’s New at Globe

The great news this month is that the Race Day agreement has been signed between SAHRC and HRSA. The signing took place on Friday 11th March.

Implementation of this agreement will provide both SAHRC and HRSA with a measure of security and stability over racing at Globe Derby Park for the next 5 years also providing a platform for the Committee of SAHRC to develop plans for the clubs medium to long term viability. Both Associations are working closely to try and improve our product allowing the public and Government better understanding of our great sport, also with the view of showing we are united on all fronts.

With the SA Cup series finals to be conducted at Globe Derby in April it is all hands on deck to make it the best night that we possibly can. We have recently had a venue meeting with Nathan and the committee to make sure all food vans and entertainment are booked. The Square Trotters Association are conducting a BBQ on this night. Let’s hope the weather is kind to us.

At the time of writing Strathalbyn and Gawler have conducted very successful Cup meetings, congratulations to these clubs and good luck to Port Pirie, Kapunda, and Victor Harbour when you conduct your special nights/days.

Globe Derby residents will have received a letter from the Salisbury Council stating road closure, I have added a map that was included with this letter, this map gives the impression that part of the training track is being removed. This map actually shows the area of land that is part of a land swap between Globe Derby and council, the area shaded at this moment in time belongs to council. To allow us to have more major road frontage for future development there is an agreement to swap this land for an area through our property that may in the future become a road joining the Expressway to Elder Smith Drive. At this stage nothing will affect the training track.

The committee at this moment are looking into the viability of relocating meals on Saturday nights from the Bistro into the Committee room so that customers can view the racing whilst enjoying a lovely dining experience. We will expand on this announcement once all equipment has been inspected in the upstairs kitchen.

We hope everyone is enjoying our bright and colourful new finishing line, we think it makes for a great photo as the horses go past the line and it actually says Globe Derby. If you know of someone that would like to advertise in the space on the right hand side please call Lois on 0481198281. It can be short term or for a month etc.

Once again, the Committee SAHRC thank the Committee of SA BOTRA for allowing us to bring you What’s New At Globe.  Regards SAHRC
