ABR was delighted with the impressive debut for the stable of Polly Put Kettleon on Tuesday at Globe Derby Park.
Backed from as much as $11 pre-post, but mainly $5 into $1.75 favourite, Polly Put Kettleon led throughout in the TAB Live Vision Sky Racing Pace (1800m).
Driver Samantha Pascoe had the four-year-old mare away quickly to take the lead and then was able to control the race.
Polly Put Kettleon improved her sectional times ever so slightly giving none of her rivals a chance.
She ran quarters of 30.2, 30.1, 29.1 and 28.7 to rate 1:56.9 for an easy 10 metre win.
Trainer Aaron Bain said the stable had given the mare a slight break after purchasing her earlier in the year.
“Her work had been outstanding in the leadup to a return to racing,” Bain said.
“Then on Saturday her final piece of work wasn’t quite as sharp, so I was a little apprehensive, but it was all right on the night.”
Bain said Polly Put Kettleon would have her next run at the Gawler Carnival of Cups meetings on Sunday, October 17.
“She also has a Vicbred bonus which can be won so we will probably try to pick that up afterwards.
“Then it will be off to Queensland because there are a host of mares races which should suit her ideally.”
